VOWS

The Marriage Act sets out vows which must be said by each of the parties to the marriage in their wedding ceremony:
I call upon the persons here present to witness that I, ________, take thee, ________, to be my lawful wedded wife/husband/spouse/partner in marriage”… or words to that effect.

In addition to this, you can personalise your vows however you wish.

Romantic Vows

I take you, to have and to hold, cherish and to comfort with all my heart.

I promise to care for you, to encourage and inspire you. To laugh and cry with you through good times and in bad, asking that you only be yourself.

I promise to walk by your side as your best friend, your lover and your soul mate. I give you my hand, my heart and my unconditional love now and always.

I vow to help you love life, to always hold you with tenderness and to have the patience that love demands. To speak when words are needed and to share the silence when they are not and to live within the warmth of your heart and always call it home.

I vow to fiercely love you, in all your forms, now and forever. I promise to never forget that this is a once in a lifetime love.

I vow to love you, and no matter what challenges might carry us apart, we will always find a way back to each other

I promise to give you the best of myself.
I promise to trust you and respect you for the person you are.
I promise to treat your needs, interests and goals as I do my own.
I promise to grow and change alongside you, to become the people we are meant to be together.
I promise to share your joy, to bring my joys to you first and to choose joy in our relationship each and every day.
Most of all, I promise to love you, with my whole heart, forever and always.

From the moment our paths crossed, you’ve captivated me, challenged me, frustrated me and improved me in ways no person has done before. And I have fallen in love with you again and again. I promise to be true to you, to support and encourage you and to challenge and frustrate you. I truly believe we are good for each other and that we will continue to grow stronger together.

I take you to be my lover, best friend and confidant, to walk with me through joy and trial and face life by my side from this day forward.

I promise to fight fair, to be patient, to show you I love you every day. To love you with actions, not just words. To be adventurous and brave with our future, to laugh and cry with you. To always support you, and to hold your hand.

I vow that I will always love you.

Today I will marry you, my best friend, the one I will live with, dream with, and love forever.

I take you to be my wife / husband / partner in marriage, from this day forward I will cherish you.

I will look with joy along the path of our tomorrow, knowing we will walk it together, side by side, hand in hand and heart to heart.

I will love you, I will honour you and I will cherish you everyday for the rest of my life.

I promise to laugh with you and sometimes at you, to be faithful to you, honest with you and worthy of your trust and your heart.

Quirky Vows

Today is mostly an ordinary day….the sun rose, babies were born, people slept in and we just so happen to be getting married.

But the not-so ordinary part is how we are making promises to each other for the rest of our days, no matter how ordinary or unusual they may be.

So I promise to you: to always laugh with you and to never go to bed angry. To comfort you in times of sorrow to always listen to what you have to say, even when we don't see eye to eye, and to remember love is saying 'I feel differently' instead of 'you're wrong'.

But most of all, I promise to love you, under any circumstances; happy or sad, easy or difficult, through the sunshine and through the rain for the rest of my days. I am the luckiest and I couldn't imagine growing old with anyone else.

I promise to always leave the lights on in the bathroom
I promise to mysteriously take three hours to make a simple omelette
I promise to create a life for us of unexpected and strange adventures
I promise that I will love you

I pledge to listen to your advice, and occasionally take it
I pledge to never keep score… even if I'm totally winning
I pledge to always admire your huge, strong, kind and determined heart
I pledge that I will love you

I vow to listen, for as long as it takes for you to feel heard
I vow to watch in awe as you kick ass and take names
I vow to be your unrelenting cheer squad on the days it feels too much
I vow that I will love you

I believe that ‘me time' is an actual concept, that can be proven by science
I believe that carefully folded socks make you happy
I believe there is no time or place I'm more content than when you're close
Because of this and so, so much more… I believe that I will always love you

I love you. Very simple. Very truly.

You are the epitome of everything I have ever looked for in another human being. There isn’t another soul on this planet that has ever made me half the person I am when I’m with you.

I am forever changed because of who you are and what you’ve meant to me

I promise to be spontaneous, cherish each moment, be fair, be willing to try new things, witness your beautiful life, always take time for us, dream with you, be your biggest fan, laugh together, love you with actions and not just words, and encourage you to chase your dreams.

I take you to be my partner in the adventure that lies ahead.

I promise to walk by your side to the ends of the earth. To love, encourage, and support you in your every endeavour.

I commit to opening myself up completely to you and sharing with you my entire being. To share your laughter as well as tears.

I take you as my wife / husband/ partner in marriage from now until the end of time.

I take you to be my wife / husband / partner in marriage in equal love, as a mirror for my true self, as a partner on my path, to honour and to cherish in sorrow and in joy, till death do us part.

I am proud to take you as my wife / husband / partner in marriage.

For all the time we have been together, there has always been the kind of mutual understanding which is only shared when there is true love. You have helped me triumph over challenges presented, encouraged my personal growth and boosted my self-esteem.

You have helped me become the person I am today, and with your help, I will be a better person tomorrow than I was yesterday.

I vow to trust and value your opinions, and stand by your actions. I pledge to always treat you as my best friend and equal. I will ask for help when I need it, and offer help to you always.

Let us be friends and lovers, and grow old disgracefully together.
